Tricord: the local-first Postman alternative
Send requests, chain them into flows, load-test your backend and compare runs over time. Tricord runs entirely on your machine: no account, no cloud, and your collections are plain JSON files you can keep in git. A built-in MCP server lets AI tools like Claude, Cursor and Codex build, debug and load-test your APIs with you.

Native Rust engine
- Requests run in Rust, not a browser webview, so there are no CORS limits
- Timing waterfall for every response: DNS, TCP connect, TLS handshake, waiting, download
- Methods, params, headers, Bearer / Basic / API-key auth, JSON, XML, form, multipart and binary bodies
Local-first collections
- No account, no sign-in, no cloud sync
- One JSON file per request in a normal folder tree, so diffs stay clean in git
- Environments with {{variable}} autocomplete; secret values go in a git-ignored folder
Flows and load testing
- Drag saved requests onto a canvas and wire success / failure paths
- Conditions, retries, delays, repeats and data passing between steps
- Load tests up to 1,000 concurrent users with a rate limit and duration, after a confirmation that lists the target hosts
Run dashboard
- Every run is saved with every request, including failure responses with headers and body
- p50 / p95 / p99 latency, throughput, status codes and failures by concurrency
- Compare two runs and export a run as JSON or CSV
AI tools (MCP)
- Built-in MCP server for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Antigravity, Codex, OpenCode and more
- AI tools can create requests, send and debug them, build and run flows, load test, and read the dashboard
- Changes made by an AI tool show up in the app live
Import and export
- Import cURL, Postman collections v2.1 and environments, and OpenAPI 3 (JSON or YAML)
- Export Postman collections and environments
- Code snippets for cURL, Python requests, JavaScript fetch and Rust reqwest
Let your AI tools use Tricord
Tricord includes an MCP server, so AI assistants work on the same collections you do. Ask for a request per endpoint, a login flow, or a load test, and the results appear in the app within a second.
- Open Settings, then AI tools (MCP).
- Click Copy prompt.
- Paste it into Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex or another MCP-capable tool. It sets itself up and checks the connection.
- Make a collection for the API at https://api.example.com with a request per endpoint, and test each one.
- Build a flow that logs in, saves the token, then fetches my profile, and run it.
- Load test the search endpoint with 50 users for a minute and tell me where it slows down.
- Compare the last two load test runs. Did latency get worse?
- Secret values are hidden from AI tools unless you allow them
- AI-started load tests are capped (200 users and 5 minutes by default), and you can change the limits
- One switch turns AI access off completely
Frequently asked questions
Is Tricord a Postman alternative?
Yes. Tricord covers the everyday API-client workflow (requests, collections, environments, history) and imports Postman collections, Postman environments, OpenAPI 3 specs and cURL commands, so you can move over existing work.
Do I need an account?
No. Tricord has no sign-in and no cloud. Everything is stored on your computer, and your collections are plain JSON files in a folder you can put under version control.
Which platforms does Tricord support?
Windows 10 and 11 (.msi and setup .exe), and Linux (.deb, .rpm and .AppImage). Linux packages are built on Ubuntu 24.04, so they need a similarly recent distribution: Ubuntu 24.04+, Debian 13+ or Fedora 40+. There is no macOS build yet.
Can AI tools like Claude or Cursor use Tricord?
Yes. Tricord has a built-in MCP server. In Settings, AI tools (MCP), copy the setup prompt and paste it into Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex, Antigravity, OpenCode or another MCP-capable tool. The AI can then create and send requests, debug them, build and run flows, load test, and read the run dashboard. Secrets are hidden from AI tools by default.
Does Tricord send my data anywhere?
No account, no cloud sync and no telemetry in the app. Your collections, environments and history stay on your computer. Besides the requests you send, the app only checks GitHub for newer versions.
Why does Windows warn me when I install it?
The installers are not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen shows an unknown-publisher prompt. Choose More info, then Run anyway. Each download lists its SHA-256 checksum so you can verify the file.
Can I load test an API with it?
Yes. A flow can include a load-test step with up to 1,000 concurrent users, a rate limit and a duration. The dashboard then shows latency percentiles, throughput and the concurrency level at which failures begin.
Does it update itself?
Tricord checks for newer versions and shows an update icon when one is available. You then download and install the new version from this page.
